Prompting Press is a social media-based printmaking initiative aimed at uniting artists and inspiring the creation of a collective body of work.

Here’s how it works: every two months, we send out a creative prompt and a simple outline to spark your imagination. Your mission is to craft an original work of art based on the prompt and share it on your favourite social media platform using the relevant hashtag. For example, the hashtag for March and April is #PPabandonedFormats so you’d simply add this to the description of your work.

We encourage using BlueSky for sharing your creations but Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Threads are also great options. Please avoid Facebook as it limits sharing work publicly.

The second prompt for March and April is available when you sign up for our newsletter below. After that, you’ll receive a new prompt every two months throughout the year. All printmaking mediums are welcome, and there’s no pressure—feel free to skip prompts that don’t resonate with you.

To foster a sense of community, we encourage you to engage with other participants by liking and sharing their work. Together, we can elevate everyone’s profiles and strengthen our creative network.

At the end of 2025, we hope to exhibit a selection of submitted works in a real-world setting, celebrating the year’s collective effort.
