Prompting Press was originally conceived by Michael Fowdrey with help from Jessica Lolliot and Natalie Stoker as a way to encourage communication among artists and build a community-driven printmaking initiative. Its goal is to inspire creativity, connect printmakers, and develop a collective body of work.
The bimestrial frequency of the prompts are intended to not be too much of a challenge, allowing the participants to balance other projects whilst the prompt can gently gestate in the background over time.
At its core, Prompting Press is about artistic dialogue and shared discovery. By posting your work online with the designated hashtag, you contribute to a growing archive of creative responses while engaging with a global network of printmakers.
At the end of the year, we hope to bring some of these digital interactions into the physical world through an exhibition of selected works. Whether you participate in every prompt or just one, Prompting Press is here to challenge, inspire, and celebrate the unique responses that emerge through collective creativity. Join us, get printing, and let’s create something together.
